Description
Nitronic 50 / XM 19
Stainless steel alloy Nitronic 50 is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel that outperforms stainless steels from the 300 and 400 series in terms of corrosion resistance. Because of its superior strength, corrosion resistance, and low magnetic permability, this alloy is an excellent choice for high-risk applications such as mining and oil and gas drilling. Furthermore, unlike other austenitic grades, it is non-magnetic in cold environments, which is a bonus. It is also known as XM-19 and UNS S20910. Nitronic 50 is capable of withstanding high temperatures and sub-zero temperatures in its high strength state, allowing it to be used in critical applications. Nitronic 50 is annealed at temperatures ranging from 1950 to 2050 degrees F.
The higher end of the range should be used for critical applications that must withstand highly corrosive environments.
Stainless steel Nitronic 50 is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel that is better at protecting itself from corrosion than other stainless steels in the 300 or 400 ranges. Because this alloy is strong, corrosion-resistant, and doesn't have a lot of magnetic properties, it's a good choice for high-risk applications. Also, unlike other austenitic grades, it doesn't get magnetic in cold places.
