Description
TOUGHMET
A high-strength copper alloy called Toughmet 3 AT is made of alloy C72900 Nickel Bronze that has been spinodally hardened to make it stronger than other high-strength copper alloys. Extruded and spinodally hardened, Toughmet 3 AT has a tensile strength up to 110 ksi and a hardness up to HRC 30. This copper alloy is made up of copper, 15% nickel, and 8% tin. This alloy is very easy to work with.
While being environmentally friendly (they are free of lead and beryllium) and easily recyclable, they are also easily machined into complex components while remaining cost-effective. In addition to offering semi-finished products, Lebronze alloys is able to provide finished products that are ready for use due to the fact that they are fully integrated throughout all processes.
Because of their specific metallurgy, these Copper Nickel Tin spinodal alloys are capable of undergoing spinodal decomposition and, as a result, offer a one-of-a-kind combination of material characteristics. Thermal processing (either hot working or a combination of hot and cold working processing) results in high mechanical performance, which is significantly improved with an additional heat treatment that regulates spinodal decomposition. The spinodal decomposition treatment, for example, results in a threefold increase in the yield strength relative to the base metal.
