Description
Stellite 6
Solid carbide matrixes make up the structure of Stellite® cobalt base alloys. They are resistant to wear, galling, and corrosion, and they retain these properties even when exposed to high temperatures. Wear resistance is greatly improved in these alloys due to the inherent properties of the hard carbide phase dispersed within the matrix of the CoCr alloy.
In the field of wear-resistant alloys, Stellite 6 is the most widely used cobalt-based alloy, and it offers excellent all-around performance. Due to its superior resistance to a wide variety of mechanical and chemical degradation over a broad temperature range while maintaining a reasonable level of hardness up to 500 degrees Celsius (930 degrees Fahrenheit), it has become the industry standard for general-purpose wear resistance applications.
Additionally, it exhibits excellent resistance to impact and cavitation degradation. Stellite® 6 is well-suited for a range of hardfacing operations and is capable of being turned using carbide equipment. Valve seats and gates are two examples.
