Description
HASTALLOY- C-276
Hastelloy C276 is a superalloy composed of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium with exceptional corrosion resistance in a wide range of harsh conditions. When exposed to reducing environments, the high nickel and molybdenum concentrations of the nickel steel alloy make it particularly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, while the high chromium content provides resistance to oxidising situations. Low carbon concentration reduces carbide precipitation during welding, allowing corrosion resistance in as-welded structures to be maintained at an acceptable level.
Due to the resistance of this nickel alloy to the development of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, it is appropriate for use in the majority of chemical process applications in the as-welded condition. Hastelloy C-276 is widely regarded as one of the most adaptable corrosion-resistant alloys currently available. It demonstrates exceptional corrosion resistance in a wide range of chemical process conditions, including those containing ferric and cupric chlorides.
