Description
INCOLOY -800
At elevated temperatures, it provides resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation, as well as rupture and creep strength, among other properties. When greater resistance to stress rupture and creep is required, particularly at temperatures above 1500 °F (816 °C), the INCOLOY alloys 800H and 800HT are used in conjunction with each other. It is used in a variety of applications that require exposure to corrosive environments and high temperatures, such as aerospace. Heated equipment such as baskets, trays, and fixtures is used to treat them.
Aluminized steel is used for heat exchangers and other piping systems in nitric acid media, particularly where resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking is required. It is used in nuclear power plants for the tubing of the steam generator. The alloy is frequently found in domestic appliances, where it is used to sheath electric heating elements. Digester-liquor heaters, which are used in the production of paper pulp, are frequently made of alloy 800. It is used in petroleum processing for heat exchangers that cool the process stream by circulating air through the exchangers.
