Description
Inconel - 718
It is also known as INCONEL® 718. Nickel Alloy 718, also known as Inconel® 718, is a precipitation hardenable, corrosion-resistant, and heat-resistant nickel alloy available in bar, forgings, sheets, and plates. For bars and finished forgings, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (AMS) 5662 and 5663 specify that sizes between parallel sides must be 10" or less, with a maximum cross-sectional area of 78 in2. It is a multi-melted alloy that has undergone VIM and/or VAR operations to create it.
The alloy offers excellent strength and creep rupture qualities at temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 1300 °F, as well as excellent corrosion resistance and weldability, as well as resistance to cracking. Nickel Alloy 718 exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion at the temperatures and atmospheres encountered in jet engine and gas turbine operations, respectively. It is also resistant to corrosion when exposed to acids, seawater, sour oil and/or gas.
